Cookie Policy
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies peoplecheck.online uses, and how to control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy and takes effect on the date shown at the top of this page in the site footer.
1. Our position in one paragraph
We use a small number of first-party cookies. We do not load third-party advertising trackers on the site, and our analytics are first-party — the event stream is written to our own database, not to an external analytics vendor. Affiliate attribution is done server-side against a click identifier, not with a third-party pixel.
2. What we set
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| pc_session | Strictly necessary | Signed, httpOnly session cookie that keeps you logged in | 30 days, or until logout |
| pc_csrf | Strictly necessary | Cross-site request forgery protection on forms and server actions | Session |
| pc_anon | Strictly necessary | Anonymous identifier that lets you run a free teaser search and see the result before you register | 180 days |
| pc_click | Functional | Stores the affiliate click identifier so the partner who referred you is credited | 30 days |
| pc_consent | Strictly necessary | Records your cookie choices so we stop asking | 12 months |
| pc_theme | Functional | Remembers light or dark preference | 12 months |
| pc_ab | Analytics | Keeps you in a consistent variant of a funnel experiment | 90 days |
Strictly necessary cookies are set without consent because the Service cannot function without them. Functional and analytics cookies are set only after you accept them in the banner, and your choice is recorded in our consent ledger with a timestamp and version.
3. Similar technologies
- localStorage holds your last search draft and interface preferences on your own device. It is never transmitted to us.
- Server-side logs record a hashed IP address, the path, and a coarse country for security and rate limiting. That is not a cookie and cannot be switched off, but the IP is hashed on receipt and never stored raw.
4. Managing cookies
- On this site — open "Cookie settings" in the footer at any time to change or withdraw consent. Withdrawal takes effect immediately.
- Global Privacy Control — if your browser sends a GPC signal we treat it as an opt-out of sale and sharing, automatically, with no banner interaction.
- In your browser — every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will log you out and will break checkout.
5. Do Not Sell or Share
We do not sell personal information for money. Because analytics activity can fall inside the CCPA's broad definitions, the footer carries a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link on every page. Using it, or sending GPC, disables analytics and functional cookies for you and records the opt-out.
6. Changes
If we add a cookie we will update this table before it is set, and re-prompt for consent where the new cookie is not strictly necessary.
